Warner Bros producer Donald De Line confirmed that plans are still proceeding for Green Lantern - and even better that this will be a serious take on the character. While speaking to CHUD from the set of Observe and Report, De Line confirmed that funnyman Jack Black is no longer attached to the film and that it will not be a comedy.

De Line further said that they're awaiting the first draft of the script from writer Greg Berlanti, and that the film will serve as an origin story for Hal Jordan.

It was also confirmed that Green Lantern is unconnected to the (presumed dead) Justice League: Mortal film which was being developed by George Miller.

In the comics, Hal Jordan is a test-pilot who receives the Green Lantern power ring from a dying alien. Donning the ring, Jordan finds himself a member of the intergalactic Green Lantern corps. The Green Lanterns are charged with defending their sector of space from all manner of threats.
