After a long absence away from the spotlight, Wesley Snipes made his long-awaited return on the big screen in last summer's The Expendables 3. He is now ready to take on a more permanent position, signing up for a role in NBC's new drama The Player. It was one of two new shows ordered by the network this weekend, the other being the drama Game of Silence from CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's Carol Mendelsohn. NBC has also renewed the medical drama The Night Shift for Season 3. This news comes just one week before The Night Shift Season 2 finale is set to air.

The Player comes from the team responsible for NBC's mega-hit The Blacklist. Set in Las Vegas, the action thriller follows a former military operative-turned-security expert (Philip Winchester). He is drawn into a high-stakes game where an organization of wealthy individuals gamble on his ability to stop some of the biggest crimes imaginable from playing out. Seeking revenge for the death of his wife, his goal is to take them all down. Charity Wakefield and Damon Gupton co-star.

Originally thought to be too dark for network television, Game of Silence tracks a successful Atlanta attorney (David Lyons) who finds his long-lost childhood friends suddenly reappear after twenty-five years. A dark secret between them soon surfaces, and the friends come together to right the wrongs of their shared past, a journey that pushes the limits of their loyalty only to quench their thirst for revenge.
