Get ready to trick out your PS3 later this month.

According to a story from Home Media Magazine, Don Eklund, Sony Home Entertainment executive vice president of advanced technologies, confirmed that the Profile 1.1 firmware upgrade for the Playstation 3 will be available at the end of this month. Eklund made the confirmation at the High-Def 2.0 conference on Tuesday.

The move will enable PS3 users to play the new influx of 1.1 discs, with picture-in-picture features, that will be released early in 2008. The upgrade will also bring the PS3 up to speed with the rest of the Blu-Ray pack. All Blu-Ray players manufactured after November 1 are required to support Profile 1.1
