We haven't seen anything from Sony Playstation Network's Powers since the trailer debuted at New York Comic-Con back in October. Today, we have seven photos from the upcoming series, which offer our first look at Michelle Forbes (The Killing) as Retro Girl. We also get new images featuring Sharlto Copley as Christian Walker, Susan Heyward as his partner in the Powers police division, Deena Pilgrim, Eddie Izzard as Wolfe, Noah Taylor as Johnny Royalle and Olesya Rulin as Calista.
The series is based on the comic book of the same name, co-created by Brian Bendis, who serves as an executive producer on the series. The story is set in a world where a group of humans are blessed with super powers. Sharlto Copley and Susan Heyward play cops operating within a special police division dubbed Powers implemented to investigate crimes committed by these gifted individuals. Here's what Brian Bendis had to say about the show's blend of police procedural and superhero genres.
"It matches up the best things about a cop show with the best things about the superhero genre and allows us to tell stories that completely deconstruct and reinvent everything about our culture."
Eddie Izzard's Wolfe is one of Walker and Pilgrim's top priorities, seen in solitary confinement in the photo below, where he is routinely lobotomized to hinder his regenerative abilities. It remains to be seen whether or not Wolfe will be the primary villain throughout the first season, but it seems he will escape from prison at some point. When asked about his character, Eddie Izzard revealed he was hesitant to portray him after his role on NBC's Hannibal.
"I was slightly worried, because Wolfe does kill and eat people-and I had just come off Hannibal! But I haven't seen a character like this before."
Take a look at the photos below featuring the colorful characters from Powers. It isn't known exactly when the show will debut yet, so stay tuned for more information.
