According to Variety, Mike Newell will direct an untitled Western set in post-revolution Mexico for the Ruddy Morgan Organization. RMO picked up the project out of turnaround from Universal.

The story is about a Native American ex-Marine bounty hunter sent to recover the missing horse of a rich American's mistress.

The project, written by Apocalypse Now scribe John Milius, was set up at U for years under the soon-to-change name "Wanted: Dead or Alive," and the studio still has "changed elements" rights that enable it to hop on board as a distributor once casting is in place.

"Wanted: Dead or Alive" was the name of Steve McQueen's TV series that ran on CBS from 1958-61.
