The final movie of the late Power Rangers star and martial artist, Jason David Frank, has now set a release date. Not only that, but Bat in the Sun Productions and Bascule Productions Ltd. Have also revealed that the sci-fi superhero outing Legend of the White Dragon will receive a theatrical release. While a specific date has not yet been revealed, the release of Legend of the White Dragon will coincide with what would have been the actor’s 50th birthday in September.

"When Jason David Frank tragically took his own life late last year, it became the filmmaker's mission to honor his legacy by completing the film the way Frank envisioned it. Frank was a beloved actor who still has a great emotional impact on fans around the world. He was a world-renowned and acclaimed martial artist, who brought the same passion to his performances on the screen. In this film, Jason David Frank plays Erik Reed, a complex character that really allowed him to showcase his incredible range as an actor,” the Deadline press release reads.

Jason David Frank sadly passed away last year on November 19 at the age of 49. Best recognized for his long-running role as Tommy Oliver in the Power Rangers franchise, Frank was also an expert martial artist with knowledge in a wide range of different styles including Shōtōkan, Wadō-ryū, Taekwondo, Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Wing Chun, Jeet Kune Do, and Aikido.

Legend of the White Dragon follows Jason David Frank as Erik Reed aka the White Dragon. In the Aftermath, the city was left decimated. The heroes were blamed, stripped of their titles and hunted. Now, having been a fugitive for three years, Reed returns to the city he failed to protect in order to clear his name, save his family, and thwart the mysterious Dragon Prime from unleashing his own revenge.

“We are proud to have worked with such a talented actor, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share his final performance with the world,” Legend of the White Dragon co-director Aaron Schoenke, who helmed the movie alongside Sean Schoenke, said of working with the late actor. “Having been on this journey with Jason for 10 years, I know he would be beyond excited to know that LEGEND OF THE WHITE DRAGON will be opening in theaters.”

“Despite the tremendous loss, the production team has worked tirelessly to complete the film and ensure that it meets the high standards that Jason set for himself,” Sean Schoenke added. “The result is a powerful and moving tribute to his talent and dedication.”

Starring Aaron Schoenke, Chalet Lizette Brannan, Mayling Ng, Michael Madsen, and Mark Dacascos alongside Jason David Frank, Legend of the White Dragon debuts exclusively in theaters on September 4, 2023.
