Superman: According to Variety, producer Gil Adler has come on board to produce Warner Bros. Pictures' Superman movie and the studio has confirmed the casting of 25-year-old Brandon Routh as the Man of Steel.

The untitled pic will start shooting in Australia early next year for helmer Bryan Singer. Release is skedded for summer 2006.

Adler shares producing chores with Jon Peters and Singer. Pic was penned by Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.

Routh was chosen for the role after an exhaustive search that spanned the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia. His TV credits include "One Life to Live," "Gilmore Girls," "Will & Grace" and "Cold Case."

He recently wrapped his first feature, the upcoming Deadly, starring opposite Laura Prepon.
