According to Variety, production has halted on Emily's Reasons Why Not, all but sealing the fate of the ABC midseason laffer starring Heather Graham.
Work on the show ended Friday following the taping of the sixth episode and a decision by ABC brass to reduce its original order. Just a day before, Alphabet had said it was pre-empting what would have been the show's second telecast.
Despite a huge promo push by ABC, Emily's -- from Pariah and Sony Pictures Television -- opened to disappointing ratings. Its Jan. 9 premiere averaged a 2.8/7 in adults 18-49, ranking fourth in its 9 p.m. slot and losing a huge chunk of its "Wife Swap" lead-in.
As of Monday, Emily's was still scheduled to return to ABC's sked next week. Once Alphabet execs see how last night's Bachelor repeat does in the 9 p.m. timeslot, however, net may decide to pull the show for good.
