The long delayed television adaptation of Howard Zinn's 1980 novel A People's History of the United States is finally set to go into production. According to Variety, the four-hour documentary will include performances by Matt Damon, Marisa Tomei, Viggo Mortensen, Danny Glover, Josh Brolin, David Strathairn, Kerry Washington, Eddie Vedder and John Legend.

The series will revolve around actors and musicians as they read from the book or perform music related to the themes of the struggles of women, war, class and race. Photos, archival footage, and interviews will be mixed in.

The miniseries begins shooting next month in Boston.
