Last month, Ridley Scott revealed that the classic Xenomorph creatures from his original Alien franchise will not be present in his highly-anticipated follow-up Prometheus 2. This news had many fans wondering who (or what) will be the primary villain in this upcoming sequel, which is currently being written. That report also revealed that Noomi Rapace will return as Elizabeth Shaw, and the actress recently offered her thoughts about where she hopes the sequel is heading, in an interview with MTV UK.

"Well, I know Elizabeth Shaw wants to go to paradise. I say that in the first one. I don't want to go back. She can't go to Earth, because there's nothing left for her there, really. She wants to go to where they came from, these giant creatures. I think, in her head, that's a dark paradise, in a way, so what's there? I don't know. I think she wants answers, she wants to know, and I feel like I'm sharing her curiosity, but also anger."

It's worth noting that the end of Prometheus featured Elizabeth and the android David (Michael Fassbender) setting off on a journey to the Engineers home planet, but it isn't even known if the sequel will take place directly after the first movie, or if there will be a time jump. When asked what the ultimate threat might be, without the xenomorphs present, the actress had this to say about new villains:

"God, maybe? God or Devil, I don't know. I don't know where he's going to take us, but I can't wait to go there. I don't know what we're going to discover."

While it certainly would be controversial to feature God or the Devil as villains in Prometheus 2, since the script is still being worked on, it remains to be seen what large threat Elizabeth and Michael will face in this sci-fi sequel. Our report from last month also indicated that both Prometheus 2 and Ridley Scott's Untitled Blade Runner Project are both in pre-production, but we reported in August that Prometheus 2 may be postponed in favor of Untitled Blade Runner Project. Regardless of which comes first, they will both come after The Martian, starring Matt Damon, which is gearing up to start production this fall.
