After three The Punisher adaptations that failed to make any significant dent at the box office, Marvel reacquired the rights to this superhero franchise back in May 2013, along with Ghost Rider and Daredevil. The studio just released their Netflix TV series Marvel's Daredevil last month, but we haven't heard about movie or TV plans for Ghost Rider or The Punisher quite yet. While we wait for any official word on The Punisher coming back to the big or small screen, actor Tom Hardy revealed that he would love to play Frank Castle in an adaptation of The Punisher.

"I want The Punisher. I want The Punisher, or Splinter Cell, I want something. I don't know what I want. Frank Castle, I would love it."

However, the actor did admit that he may be too short to play Frank Castle.

"I'm not big enough to be The Punisher, I'm 5'9"."

Out of the actors who have played Frank Castle on the big screen in the past, Tom Hardy would be the shortest, but not by too much. Thomas Jane, who starred in 2004's The Punisher, is 5'11" while Punisher: War Zone star Ray Stevenson stands 6'4" and Dolph Lundgren, who played Frank Castle in 1989's The Punisher, is 6'5". Regardless, Marvel hasn't announced plans for a movie or TV series based on The Punisher, but now that they have the rights, it's certainly not out of the realm of possibilities.
