A Punk'd revival is officially on the way. This time around, things will be a bit different. For starters, it won't be Ashton Kutcher pranking unsuspecting celebrities. Instead, Grammy winning artist Chance the Rapper has been tapped to host the series. Also, the revival will be airing on the upcoming streaming service Quibi, which will specialize in short-form content that clocks in at 10 minutes or less per episode. So the new version of Punk'd will be bite-sized compared to its predecessor.

The announcement was made by Quibi recently as they continue to unveil an impressive slate of original programming. The service is set to launch in April. In addition to his duties as host, it's said Chance will also be directing the new series. The service promises that "no stars will be safe." In a statement, Chance had this to say about it.

"Punk'd is one of MTV's most iconic franchises. I grew up watching this show and it's surreal to be in the driver's seat this time around on Quibi."

Quibi released a brief teaser for the Punk'd revival, which provides a brief window into what this is going to look like with Chance the Rapper behind the camera. It features rapper Megan Thee Stallion getting involved in some shenanigans with a gorilla. We see brief teases of other elaborate pranks, which involve explosions and crushing cars. As far as the hosting bit is concerned, Chance seems rather excitable and brings quite a bit of energy to the table. Megan Thee Stallion is the only celebrity revealed in the video, so it's not yet clear who will be getting pranked throughout the revival series' first season.

Launching on April 6, 2020, Quibi is positioning itself as the first entertainment platform designed specifically for your phone. Quibi will feature original content from many high-profile stars. Quibi, which is short for "quick bites," is designed for easy, on-the-go mobile viewing with new episodes of movie-quality shows delivered in 10 minutes or less. This is the second revival of an old MTV show that is heading for the service. Quibi is additionally set to play host to a new version of the dating show Singled Out, which will be hosted by Keke Palmer and Joel Kim Booster.

Punk'd originally aired in 2003 and its original run hosted by Ashton Kuthcer lasted until 2007. The premise is simple; elaborate pranks are set up and then executed on unsuspecting celebrities. Frankie Muniz, Justin Timberlake, Mandy Moore, Beyonce and Elijah Wood are a small handful of the famous faces that have appeared on the show. It was revived in 2012 for a single season that featured various guests hots. The show moved to BET for a season in 2015, which is the last time it was on the air. 10 seasons of the show have aired in total.
