Jeff Bridges is now confirmed to star in R.I.P.D. alongside Ryan Reynolds. We reported last month that Jeff Bridges was in talks to star, and now the deal has been cemented.

Last month, it wasn't clear what role Jeff Bridges was playing. This new report indicates he is taking over the character Zach Galifianakis was once in discussions for before dropping out in early April.

R.I.P.D., which is based off the Dark Horse comic book series created by Peter M. Lenkov, centers on a group of police officers who died in the line of duty, who form an undead police unit known as the R.I.P.D.. Ryan Reynolds will play Nick Cruz, a new addition to the force, who tries to find the man who killed him. Jeff Bridges will play a longtime R.I.P.D. veteran named Roy.

Robert Schwentke is directing R.I.P.D. from a screenplay by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, which is adapted from the comic book series. It isn't known when production will start on R.I.P.D. yet.
