Inspired by the 1970s British family drama of the same name, Railway Children follows Lily (Beau Gadsdon), Pattie (Eden Hamilton), and Ted (Zac Cudby) as their mother evacuates them from a dangerous life in Salford to settle into Yorkshire village of Oakworth with Bobbie Waterbury (Jenny Agutter), her daughter Annie (Sheridan Smith), and grandson Thomas (Austin Haynes). The children soon discover an injured American soldier (KJ Aikens) in the Oakworth Station railyard and go to far extents to help him.
Railway Children is directed by BAFTA-Winning Morgan Matthews and written by BAFTA-Winning Danny Brocklehurst. It recently saw a successful release in the UK and will become available in the US only in theaters on September 23, 2022.
Ahead of its release, we have an exclusive clip to premiere. "Nobody knows I'm doing this. Not even your mother and she knows everything," says Richard (John Bradley). "Doing what?" asks Thomas (Haynes). "Listening," he replies as he tinkers with a contraption that has multiple cables and bulbs inside. "Listening?" asks Thomas as he's quickly shushed by Richard. "To messages," explains Thomas, "I'm eavesdropping on me enemy." He continues, "intercepting messages, cracking codes, and then, feeding my findings back to the authorities." Thomas is impressed to hear this. "I'm a vital cog in the war machine," adds Richard, "they say that I'm too flat-footed to fight, but I'm in here night after night fighting those Germans as sure if I had a gun in me hand." It's then revealed that there are biscuits and a cup of tea beside him on the table. You can watch it in full below.

Agutter's role as Bobbie Waterbury is a reprisal for her, having played the same in the original film. "The script has a lightness of touch where those references are there if you know the original, but it isn't necessarily a prerequisite to getting something out of this film. We hope it'll make people go back and watch the original again, but this one stands up perfectly as a film," said Agutter in an interview with Yahoo Life. "We tried to make it an homage, but also tried to update it to make it relevant to 2022," added Bradley.
Also starring in the film as Jessica Baglow, Hugh Quarshire, Neil Hurst, Tom Courtenay, and more. It's based on a treatment by BAFTA-Winning producer Jemma Rodgers.
