Androids fear they are becoming too human in the latest trailer for Raised by Wolves Season 2. Transporting us back to the sinister, desolate world on which a pair of androids are tasked with protecting several human children, the highly anticipated second series will once again be released exclusively to HBO Max next month, with the footage coming courtesy of the streaming service's official YouTube channel.

Created by Aaron Guzikowski, the first season of Raised by Wolves premiered on HBO Max in September last year, with the first two episodes directed by seminal filmmaker Ridley Scott, who also serves as an executive producer for the show. Scott is of course known for his work on the big screen, with the director crafting hugely influential blockbusters for decades including the likes of Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, and The Martian.

Raised by Wolves centers on two androids known as Father and Mother, who are tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet following a great war that has left the Earth destroyed. The human colony which also inhabits the planet threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, and the androids quickly learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task, but must do whatever they can to protect their brood.

Raised by Wolves Season 2 Will Continue the Journey of Mother & Father

In season two of Raised by Wolves, Android partners Mother (Amanda Collin) and Father (Abubakar Salim), along with their litter of six human children, journey across the planet and join a newly formed atheistic colony in Kepler 22 b’s mysterious tropical zone. But navigating this strange new society is only the start of their troubles as Mother’s “natural child” threatens to drive what little remains of the human race to extinction.

From the looks of the newly released trailer, Raised by Wolves Season 2 will continue the wonderfully realized world-building, eerie atmosphere, and epic-yet-intimate storytelling that made the first season so unique. The series will also continue to pose questions about such compellingly existential themes as morality, life, death, and what it means to be human in the way that all the best science fiction does.

Starring Amanda Collin as Mother/Lamia, Abubakar Salim as Father, Travis Fimmel as Marcus, Niamh Algar as Sue and Kim Engelbrecht as Decima, alongside Winta McGrath, Jordan Loughran, Matias Varela, Felix Jamieson, Ethan Hazzard, Aasiya Shah, Ivy Wong, Peter Christoffersen, Selina Jones, Morgan Santo, James Harkness, and Jennifer Saayeng, Raised by Wolves Season 2 is due to premiere Thursday, February 3, 2022, exclusively on HBO Max.

Raised by Wolves is just one of several high-profile shows due for release on HBO Max, including Westworld Season 4, Euphoria Season 2, Barry Season 3, His Dark Materials Season 3, The Nevers Season 2, The Flight Attendant Season 2, Gossip Girl Season 2, Hacks Season 2, and Legendary Season 3. Several new series will also begin this year courtesy of HBO Max, including The Time Traveler’s Wife, Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, Sesame Street, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, and The Staircase.
