WARNING: This article contains some mild spoilers for the Season 4 episode of Cobra Kai entitled “Party Time.”

It is always fun when a TV show or movie gives us an unexpected Easter egg involving one of the stars. And now Cobra Kai has given us one of the ultimate Easter eggs involving star Ralph Macchio. In the season 4 episode, “Party Time,” Macchio’s daughter, Julia Macchio, makes an important cameo during the episode.

The episode continues the story arc of Daniel’s son, Anthony, whose story arc the entire season has been about how he is not quite the little angel that he and his wife might think he is. The story arc never quite gets resolved this season and will likely carry on into next season. But this is where Julia Macchio’s character comes in.

About a third of the way through the episode, Daniel’s cousin Louie (played by comedian Bret Ernst) suggests that Daniel’s cousin, Vanessa, a grad school student studying child psychology, could come and analyze Anthony for them. Daniel’s wife, Amanda, is not on board, coming out with the amusing quote, “No offense, but if we’re gonna get a pro, we can do better than Marisa Tomei, Jr.”

But Vanessa is still brought in, and she blows the Russos away with her knowledge and advanced terminologies about what might be wrong with Anthony. In the end, she ends up having an interview not only with Anthony, but also with Daniel and Amanda. They bounce ideas off each other and try to figure out how they can set Anthony straight.

The fact that Ralph Macchio’s real-life daughter plays cousin Vanessa makes the dynamic of the scene that much more interesting, but there is no denying the chemistry father and daughter have on-screen together.

Julia Macchio had fun on set, tweeting out the following about her experience on the show.

Cobra Kai Has Been a Huge Hit for Netflix

Cobra Kai Stars on Why They Agreed to Karate Kid Revival Series

Already renewed for a fifth season on the streaming service, Cobra Kai has proved to be a fan-favorite series. Serving as a followup to the three Karate Kid movies starring Ralph Macchio, Cobra Kai follows the story of Daniel Russo and William Zabka’s Johnny Lawrence as adults. Fans remember the two’s famous fight as the climax of the first Karate Kid film where Daniel triumphed.

The story takes place 30 years after that tournament and finds Russo and Lawrence once again as martial arts rivals when Lawrence reopens the Cobra Kai dojo. In a stunning twist of fate, Lawrence’s son ends up being trained in karate, not in the Cobra Kai style but rather in the style taught by the late Mr. Miyagi.

Fans have happily embraced Cobra Kai, making it an easy decision for Netflix to keep renewing the show, with the announcement of the season 5 pickup coming even before season 4 premiered.

Cobra Kai seasons 1 through 4 are now streaming on Netflix. Season 5 has reportedly already finished filming and is rumored for a release sometime in 2022.
