Creed is an interesting reboot of the Rocky legacy in that it is not bringing in a new actor to continue playing the Italian Stallion immortalized by Sylvester Stallone. Instead, it is introducing the son of Apollo Creed in setting up it's own mythology with Michael B. Jordan stepping in to take over the franchise, while allowing Rocky Balboa to still exist in this universe. That might not be possible with Rambo, who was first introduced in 1982. Especially if Sylvester Stallone kills off the character. There are plenty of missions we didn't get to see John Rambo go on throughout the years, so a complete reboot isn't out of the question. But who would take on such an iconic role?

In an interview conducted while doing press for Creed, Sylvester Stallone, considering the question seriously, didn't hesitate to answer. If Rambo gets a reboot, he wants Drive actor Ryan Gosling to strap on the red headband next. And while that might seem a little far fetched, it actually makes sense. As Ryan Gosling is a little bit more like the Rambo in the original books than he is in the movie. The action legend must have been proud of his answer, as he shared the interview excerpt on his own Twitter page.

So, what does Ryan Gosling think of this idea? Cinema Blend was on hand to talk with the actor recently for his surprising turn in the upcoming movie The Big Short. At first, the actor is hesitant to even believe the journalist posing the question. While he doesn't say he would ever consider playing Rambo, he does have some very nice things to say about Sylvester Stallone.

"That Would be incredible. He is one of my favorite actors. The fact that he knows my name is exciting. He's the best. I'm genuinely touched that the said that. If you're lying you're an awful person."

A straight up Rambo reboot probably won't happen anytime soon, so Ryan Gosling still has time to get physically ready for the role. As evident in another Twitter sent out by Sylvester Stallone, he confirms that he is currently writing the Rambo 5 screenplay, which is tentatively called Rambo: Last Blood. The legendary action icon has every intention of playing John Rambo at least one more time. But if he were to call it quits, only to come back and direct the Rambo reboot himself, we're betting most fans would be on board.

It isn't known when Rambo: Last Blood will begin shooting. The Expendables 4 has already been confirmed to shoot in 2016, and will be in theaters in 2017. Is it possible that Sylvester Stallone will attempt two action epics in one year? Or will the next Rambo adventure simply be put on the back burner until 2017? There's also the question of when another Creed movie might happen, though there is a possibility that Sylvester Stallone won't come back for that one. What do you guys think? Here's the tweets in question and interviews in question.
