Newly relaunched MGM is working on a deal with Sony Pictures to co-finance upcoming films, including the next James Bond film James Bond 23, and release Sony's already completed films Red Dawn and The Cabin in the Woods, reports The Los Angeles Times.

The article warns that although talks are far along, the deal has yet to be completed.

Red Dawn is a remake of the 1980s film that followed the scrappy insurgency of a group of Midwestern teenagers who take on their high school mascot name -- Wolverines! -- as a rallying cry of resistance.

The Cabin in the Woods provides a new twist on a classic scenario -- in this case the young-people-stranded-in-the-woods horror trope. Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford play white-collar co-workers with a mysterious connection to the cabin.

Both anticipated to see their release in 2011, no release dates have been set.
