Walt Disney Pictures has acquired a pitch from Don't Trust the B---- In Apartment 23 creator Nahnatchka Khan entitled Happily Ever After, which has Reese Witherspoon attached to star.

The story puts a fresh twist on a classic romance, following a prince and princess, 10 years after they went on to live "happily ever after." The couple begins to realize that, even in this fairy tale land, that you have to work hard to keep a relationship together.

The actress is also producing with her Pacific Standard partner Bruna Papandrea and Smart Entertainment's John Jacobs. The idea came from Smart Entertainment's head of production Zac Unterman, who developed the story with Nahnatchka Khan and John Jacobs before pitching it to Reese Witherspoon, a deal which was more than two years in the making.

Reese Witherspoon is currently in pre-production on Wild, an adaptation of Cheryl Strayed's memoir that she is producing and starring in. The actress most recently starred in Mud and she will next be seen in Devil's Knot.
