Joe Carnahan is set to direct the remake of the thriller, Bunny Lake is Missing for Spyglass Entertainment and Columbia Pictures; Reese Witherspoon is in talks to star and produce.

The film is based on the 1965 Otto Preminger film, notes Variety; it follows the events that occur after a woman reports that her daughter Bunny Lake has gone missing. When police find no evidence that she even existed, they being to question the woman's sanity.

Carnahan, who's also writing the script for Bunny Lake is Missing, is hoping to start production late next year.
