Renée Zellweger has joined the growing list of multi-hyphenates by signing on to make her directorial debut with 4 1/2 Minutes. She will star alongside Johnny Knoxville in this comedy based on the life of stand up comedian Dov Davidoff.

The story centers on a comic named Jimmy Bennett (Johnny Knoxville), whose life is falling apart due to his commitment issues. He takes a job looking after the brilliant young son of single mother P.J. Andersen (Renée Zellweger).

Anthony Tambakis (Warrior) wrote the screenplay, with Dov Davidoff receiving a story credit. Renée Zellweger and Anthony Tambakis will also produce alongside PalmStar Media Capital's Kevin Scott Frakes.

Production is scheduled to begin this coming February in New York City.
