Sony Pictures has set a September 14, 2012 release date for Resident Evil 5, a new live-action 3D movie starring Milla Jovovich.

We reported back in November that Resident Evil: Damnation, an animated sequel to the 2008 movie Resident Evil: Degeneration, will also hit theaters in 3D sometime in 2012. You can CLICK HERE to watch the trailer and read the full press release regarding Resident Evil: Damnation.

Aside from the release date, nothing is known about Resident Evil 5. Paul W.S. Anderson directed the first Resident Evil in 2002 and the most recent installment, Resident Evil: Afterlife. He also produced Resident Evil: Apocalypse and Resident Evil: Extinction, although it isn't clear if he will return to direct or produce Resident Evil 5.
