Milla Jovovich took to her official Facebook page today, announcing that production on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter has been delayed, after the actress and her husband, franchise director Paul W.S. Anderson, discovered that they are expecting their second child. Here's the actress' full statement below, where she reveals that production has been pushed to the summer of 2015.

"Happy Monday everyone!

This was originally going to be a post to tell you how excited I am about flying to Cape Town, South Africa to begin working on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.

But... My husband Paul and I just discovered that we are expecting another baby!!!

So after a lot of discussion, we thought it would be in everyone's best interest to wait till the baby is born before we set out to try and tackle an RE movie. Between the stunt work and what will become my ever-expanding belly, we didn't think pregnancy and zombie killing are the best combo! Lol! I imagine the only thing I'll be killing in the near future is an endless supply of cupcakes. Yikes...

In all seriousness though, we want to make the best movie possible and that would be extremely difficult, to say the least, in my present condition.

I would like to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has been working so hard on the movie in South Africa already and we are so looking forward to working with you all next summer. And when we arrive, it will hopefully be with the newest member of our little family! YAY!

Before I go, i want to also send one more HUGE thank you out to all my amazing fans who have been so patient waiting for the next installment of the RE franchise! YOU ROCK!

Thanks so much for understanding everyone! All the best! -m"

We reported in June that Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is the working title of this final franchise sequel. Director Paul W.S. Anderson also revealed that he was halfway done with his first draft of the screenplay, but he wasn't sure when production would start. It seems that pre-production is already under way, with crews already working in South Africa on the sequel.

We'll keep you posted with more updates on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter as soon as more information is available about the continuation of the Resident Evil franchise.
