After a long delay, it looks like the eagerly-awaited Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is finally ready to get off the ground. Franchise star Milla Jovovich confirms that production prep on the 6th installment of the long-standing series will begin this week in South Africa. She doesn't give an exact start date for shooting to take place, but expect it to be soon. The actress, who has appeared in every single Resident Evil movie, will reprise her role as Alice. And she has shared an instagram photo of her first face cast as effects work gets underway.

It was last August that Milla Jovovich and her husband and director Paul W.S. Anderson announced that Resident Evil: The Final Chapter was getting delayed. The pair were expecting their second child together, and due to the extensive stunt regime that Milla has to undertake as Alice, they thought it would be better to halt production for a year, rather than put her through any unnecessary physical harm. But now, it looks like the movie is back on track, with the pair preparing to bring us the last, best installment of this popular video game adaptation franchise.

Shooting was originally planned for Cape Town, South Africa. Production will still take place in the area, but will now serve as only one of several different locals used though out the thriller. This will be Paul W.S. Anderson's fourth time directing a Resident Evil movie. Though his wife has appeared in all 6 live-action adventures, he skipped out on the second and third films, 2004's Resident Evil: Apocalypse, and 2007's Resident Evil: Extinction, though he did help out with the screenplays of those movies. He did return to direct Resident Evil: Afterlife in 2010, and he directed the previous installment, 2012's Resident Evil: Retribution. Parts 5 and 6 were meant to be shot back-to-back, but those plans were scrapped early in the process.

Not only is Milla Jovovich returning to play Alice for a 6th and final time, she will be joined by Wentworth Miller, who reprises his role as Chris Redfield from Part 4, Resident Evil: Afterlife. Li Bingbing is expected to return as Ada Wong. Sienna Guillory and Spencer Locke round out the cast. No other confirmations have been made at this time. It's expected that we'll here more as shooting begins this summer. About beginning this next and final stage of the journey, Milla Jovovich stated the following.

"Well, the moment so many of you have been waiting for is finally here where I can tell you that it's zombie killing season for the Jovovich-Anderson clan! Here I am getting my face cast made for "resident evil: the final chapter"!! I leave to South Africa tomorrow to start prepping for the movie! #residentevilmovie #ladiary
