Rent: According to Variety, Revolution's adaptation of playwright Jonathan Larson's "Rent" may become a trip down memory lane for a slew of the Tony-winning tuner's original cast members.

Filmmakers want to lock in Taye Diggs, Jesse Martin, Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp and Idina Menzel to reprise their roles -- and are willing to lense around the actors' schedules to secure them.

This strategy could make plans to fast-track the film for a spring shoot and holiday 2005 release a bit tougher.

Currently, Diggs (Benny) is lensing UPN series "Kevin Hill," Martin (Tom Collins) stars on NBC's "Law & Order," and Menzel (Maureen) is toplining "Wicked" on Broadway.

Who producers would like to fill the roles of Mimi, initiated by Daphne Rubin-Vega, Joanne (Fredi Walker) and Angel (Wilson Jermaine Heredia) is not clear, though a few names are said to have been tossed around for Angel.

Chris Columbus, who has been writing the script for the past several months, will direct.
