RGI Productions, in conjunction with Ray Bradbury, is moving forward on an adaptation of the author's semi-autobiographical novel Dandelion Wine.

Rodion Nahapetov, who is writing the screenplay, will produce alongside Natasha Shliapnikoff, Mike Medavoy, and Douglas Mckay.

Dandelion Wine follows the adventures of 12 year old Green Town, Illinois resident Douglas Spaulding, who is growing up in the summer of 1928. Douglas is based on Ray Bradbury and the story closely mirrors his own childhood.

The news of this adaptation heading into production happened three days before the acclaimed author's 91st birthday. This is what he had to say about the movie.

"This is the best birthday gift I could ask for. Today, I have been reborn! Dandelion Wine is my most deeply personal work and brings back memories of sheer joy as well as terror. This is the story of me as a young boy and the magic of an unforgettable summer which still holds a mystical power over me."

There is no official news on a start date for Dandelion Wine. Casting for the twelve year old version of Ray Bradbury will be underway soon.
