The first footage has been released for Knives Out 2 with more to come soon enough, according to writer-director Rian Johnson. After Netflix shelled out big bucks for Johnson to develop two Knives Out sequels for the streamer, the filmmaker has since wrapped his work on the first of the two follow-up movies. A brief snippet of the film was shown in a new trailer touting all of the upcoming 2022 releases on Netflix, and Johnson spliced out that footage and turned it into a GIF to share with his followers online.

In the tweet, Johnson notes that there's going to be "much MUCH much more" footage yet to come of Knives Out 2. Let's hope that's soon, but it's hard to say, as the latest rumors are that the movie won't arrive on Netflix until later in the year. Even so, with Netflix divulging new footage at this point, there's a good chance more pieces of the film will be unveiled in the coming months, giving us a better look at the sequel's new ensemble cast.

Of course, as seen in the brief footage from Knives Out 2, Daniel Craig returns as the prolific mystery solver Benoit Blanc. Much like the original movie, Knives Out 2 will feature an impressive ensemble cast, made up of entirely new names this time around. The film stars Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Madelyn Cline, Jessica Henwick, and Ethan Hawke.

"I really think it's going to be as good, if not better, than the first one," teased Bautista, per People. "I'm always afraid to say that because I don't want anybody to get offended saying that we're going to be better, but I really do think this. I think the characters are just so much more colorful. I think people are really going to dig this. The characters are just so great. They're so different. Everybody's cast so well. I was working with a couple of my castmates and was mesmerized by their performances and just how well they've adapted into these characters. I think the characters in this are even more quirky than the first one."
