Richard Gere and Terrence Howard have agreed to star in the new comedy, Spring Break in Bosnia for The Weinstein Co.

Richard Shepard (The Matador) wrote and will take the helm on this film. It's based on an Esquire article by Scott Anderson about the half-hearted attempt he and fellow journalists Sebastian Junger and John Falk made at corralling an alleged Bosnian war criminal. Variety adds the three found themselves in a predicament when they were identified as a CIA hit squad.

Originally, Spring Break in Bosnia was in the hands of Warner Independent, but Gere, Howard and Topher Grace, who's also attached, came on board and the studio dropped the film.

A summer production schedule is set for shooting to begin in Europe.
