Seven months after it was confirmed in August that Mike Epps is playing comedy legend Richard Pryor in a new biopic, Entertainment Tonight reports that Eddie Murphy is in talks to play the comedian's father Leroy "Buck Carter" Pryor, a former boxer, while Kate Hudson is playing Richard Pryor's wife, Jennifer Pryor. Director Lee Daniels posted a Instagram photo with himself and Eddie Murphy yesterday, which was accompanied by the following caption.

"Strap in and brace yourself. They done let me and him out of our cages! #idonteventhinkimreadyforthisone! #excited #proud #OMG"

The project was previously known as Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?, but this new report from Entertainment Tonight claims the biopic is currently untitled. No story details have emerged at this time, and it isn't known how large Eddie Murphy and Kate Hudson's roles will be. Oprah Winfrey is also producing and starring as Richard Pryor's grandmother Marie Carter. No production schedule was given at this time.

Ironically, Mike Epps was actually hand-picked by Richard Pryor himself to play him in a different biopic in 2005, just before he died, but that project never got off the ground. Eddie Murphy was also attached to yet another Richard Pryor biopic that was being set up by director Bill Condon, but he was eventually replaced by Marlon Wayans, although that project is still stuck in development. Eddie Murphy will next be seen in Cook, and Kate Hudson stars in the upcoming Rock the Kasbah. Take a look at Lee Daniels' Instagram photo with Eddie Murphy below.
