Just one day before her final show as co-host of The View, Sherri Shepherd has signed on to star in the Universal Pictures comedy sequel Ride Along 2.

No details were given for her character, but she joins a cast that includes Ice Cube, Kevin Hart, Benjamin Bratt, Olivia Munn and Ken Jeong. No story details have been confirmed at this time, but we reported last month that the story will follow James Payton (Ice Cube) and Ben Barber (Kevin Hart) as they travel from Atlanta to Miami Beach for, "fun, chaos and shenanigans."

Tim Story is directing from a script by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, with Ice Cube producing with his CubeVision partner Matt Alvarez alongside William Packer, Larry Brezner and Scott Bernstein. Production is already under way in Miami, with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart sending off the first video from the set earlier this month.

Sherri Shepherd served as a host on The View for seven years, a run which comes to an end on tomorrow's program. The sequel serves as a reunion for Sherri Shepherd, director Tim Story and Kevin Hart, who all starred in the 2012 breakout hit Think Like a Man. Her other feature credits include One for the Money, Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son and Precious. She also recently starred in a multi-episode arc on CBS' How I Met Your Mother.
