Netflix will be giving the heroes in a half-shell their next feature film with the release of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie. Set to premiere on the streaming platform on Aug. 5, 2022, the film picks up from the original animated series from Nickelodeon that presents the newest incarnation of the famous foursome. Ant Ward and Andy Suriano directed Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie, which was edited by Matt Feinman and written by Tony Gama-Lobo and Rebecca May. The cast includes Ben Schwartz, Omar Miller, Brandon Mychal Smith, Josh Brener, Kat Graham, Eric Bauza, Haley Joel Osment, Rhys Darby, and John Michael Higgins. The Ninja Turtles Are Back in Action in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie

There have been a variety of animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shows over the years with Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles marking just one of the bunch. Its feature film adaptation follows the previously released animated movies TMNT, Turtles Forever, and Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Five live-action movies have also been released in the franchise, which includes the original trilogy as well as Michael Bay's pair of reboot films. An upcoming live-action reboot is also in the works with Seth Rogen attached.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles originally aired on Nickelodeon for two seasons from 2018 to 2020. It reimagined the characters with new designs with Nickelodeon hoping to introduce the heroes in a half-shell to a new generation of fans. Before the show concluded, it was announced that it would be given a feature film at Netflix along with a separate movie based on the animated Nickelodeon series The Louse House. Throughout all of the different incarnations of the characters that continue to be introduced on the big and small screens, it's clear that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise is enduring with its popularity and they will probably continue to kick shell for some time to come.
