The CW’s most popular teen drama is now returning to screens on Sunday, March 20th, 2022 instead of March 6th. Riverdale has completed five seasons so far filled with bizarre storylines, electric romances, and of course, murder. The town of Riverdale has been through a lot, and season 6 isn’t even the last of it.

Based on Archie Comics, Riverdale stars Archie (K.J. Apa) and his friends, Betty (Lili Reinhart), Veronica (Camila Mendes), and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) as they make their way through high school whilst surviving and solving various mysteries such as serial killers and cults. The series also stars Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch), Kevin (Casey Cott), Reggie (Charles Melton), and Toni (Vanessa Morgan). Riverdale also sees a famous pair from the 90s return to screens as well such as Twin Peaks’ Madchen Amick and Scream’s Skeet Ulrich.

The series left off with the first five episodes of the show airing last fall with the fifth episode being the 100th episode of the series. The stories so far this season have featured La Llorona, parallel universes, and the literal devil paying a visit to the town. Kiernan Shipka’s Sabrina the Teenage Witch even made a cameo in the series for the first time.

“It’s lucky, man. I’m not going to lie. We’re actors, so especially when it comes to network television, you sort of sign the contract and you don’t really know how long it can run for, or how people are going to take to the program. But I feel blessed. I mean, I’m not necessarily a religious person, but I feel like we’ve gotten very lucky with this show, and people have stuck around, and it’s had some sort of cultural current that has stayed relatively consistent,” said Cole Sprouse about the show’s 100th episode, per Decider.

“As soon as we realized that our fifth episode [of the Rivervale arc] would land with our 100th episode, we thought, ‘OK, maybe we’ll do something that’s a little bit more meta and a little more a celebration, as opposed to a really dark episode,’ which is what we originally thought was going to happen. We wanted to celebrate not just the show and where the show began, how far the show’s gone, but we wanted to do a love letter to Archie Comics and the source material,” said showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to Collider.

Riverdale has shown fans the many sides of what a mysterious town looks like and has brought the Archie comics to life in a magnificent way. We can’t wait to see how the show pans out and what the story of Riverdale entails next.

Riverdale will return to The CW on Sunday, March 20th at 8/7c. You can watch seasons 1-5 streaming now on Netflix.
