“Not only is it a nod to fans of the original, but it is also a big, fun, broad audience movie," Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke says of the remake.

Liman added, “I’m thrilled to put my own spin on the beloved Road House legacy. And I can’t wait to show audiences what Jake and I are going to do with this iconic role."

In the remake, which is heavily inspired by the original, Gyllenhaal's Dalton is a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse. The official logline teases that Dalton "soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise." Jake Gyllenhaal Had Been Rumored for the Road House Reboot

Road House Remake Wants Jake Gyllenhaal in the Lead

Rumors had been swirling for years about a Road House remake. Last year, it was reported that Jake Gyllenhaal had been eyed for the lead role, but nothing was officially confirmed at the time. It wasn't clear if the plan was for him to play a new incarnation of Dalton, Patrick Swayze's character from the first movie, or if he would be introduced as a new character entirely. We now know that Gyllenhaal is playing Dalton, though their backstories are a bit different.

An official premiere date has not yet been announced for the new Road House, but the film will reportedly start filming in the Dominican Republic later this month. It will have a streaming release on Prime Video when it is released, heading straight to Amazon's streaming platform when that time comes. More information is likely to be coming soon on the project.
