Our latest sneak peek at The Munsters has director Rob Zombie and Sheri Moon Zombie saying hello to fans from the set. In the image, Sheri is in character as Lily Munster, showing off another look at her new incarnation of the classic character. Her husband Rob, who considers this to be his dream project after "chasing" the Munsters remake for many years, must be ecstatic to finally see it all coming to pass as production continues to chug along. While Rob Zombie is known for his ultra-violent horror movies, fans of the old-school Munsters won't need to worry about this new take putting an R-rated spin on the family-friendly monster family. The film has already been officially rated PG, keeping it in line with the original series. As a big fan of The Munsters as it is, at one point calling the series the "greatest show ever," Zombie has gone through great efforts to make this film as faithful as possible to the sitcom.

No plot details have been released, but Zombie has been showing images from the set, revealing that 1313 Mockingbird Lane looks just as it does in the classic show. The director also had all of the neighboring houses on Mockingbird Lane built as well. Different teases have revealed that there will be Easter eggs and references to the original series, such as the inclusion of the "Hot Rod Herman" jacket. It's all gotten many Munsters fans who were initially leery about the horror filmmaker doing the reboot to now be willing to give it a chance.

Sheri Moon Zombie is one of the film's leading cast members with her role as Lily, joining Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman Munster and Dan Roebuck as Grandpa. The film also stars Richard Brake as Dr. Henry Augustus Wolfgang, Sylvester McCoy as Igor, Jorge Garcia as Floop, Catherine Schell as Zoya Krupp, Cassandra "Elvira" Peterson as real estate agent Barbara Carr, and Dee Wallace as the voice of "Good Morning Transylvania."

So, where does that leave Eddie and Marilyn Munster? As of yet, Zombie has not revealed who will be playing these characters, and it's not even entirely clear if he plans on including them in the reboot. With that said, it would be very strange for them not to be featured in one way or another, given their prominence in the original series and all of the other efforts Zombie has gone into with making the reboot very faithful. Over a period of time, Zombie has been revealing many of these cast members one at a time, so it seems possible that he might be saving these character reveals for last. In any case, there's still a lot more to learn about the film, and let's hope some actual footage isn't too far away.

The Munsters doesn't have an official premiere date but is expected to arrive both in theaters and on Peacock sometime in 2022.
