We are fast approaching the release of The Munsters, a new take on the iconic monster family in the form of a feature film from filmmaker Rob Zombie. As Zombie has been a lifelong fan of The Munsters, this movie might be the project he's been more passionate about than any other. Throughout production, he has teased some of the many characters, locations, and Easter eggs from the original series that will be featured in the reboot. This even includes having 1313 Mockingbird Lane built from scratch to look exactly as it did in the TV show.

Because he's such a fan of the franchise, Zombie took to Instagram to honor the other actors to have played the three main characters in the reboot: Herman, Lily, and The Count, aka Grampa. In the new movie, the three are respectively played by Jeff Daniel Phillips, Sheri Moon Zombie, and Dan Roebuck. Before we get to see their movie released, Zombie posted collages for each of these three characters highlighting some of their other actors to appear in the previous Munsters adaptations.

Including the Zombie reboot, there are six actors shown for these characters. They're also from the original black-and-white TV series from 1964, the revival series The Munsters Today from 1988, the 1995 TV movie Here Come the Munsters, the 1996 holiday film The Munsters' Scary Little Christmas, and the 2012 Halloween special Mockingbird Lane.

Herman's actors include Fred Gwynne, John Schuck, Edward Herrmann, Sam McMurray, Jerry O'Connell, and Jeff Daniel Phillips. Lily's actors include Yvonne DeCarlo, Lee Meriwether, Veronica Hamel, Ann Magnuson, Portia de Rossi, and Sheri Moon Zombie. As for Grampa, previous actors include Al Lewis, Howard Morton, Robert Morse, Sandy Baron, Eddie Izzard, and Dan Roebuck.

Rob Zombie wrote and directed the new movie. Along with Phillips, Zombie, and Roebuck, the film features Richard Brake, Sylvester McCoy, Jorge Garcia, Catherine Schell, Cassandra "Elvira" Peterson, Dee Wallace, Jeremy Wheeler, and Tomas Boykin. Original Munsters stars Pat Priest and Butch Patrick also appear in special cameo roles, just another way of Zombie keeping the adaptation special for fans of the original show.

"The simple fact is, there’s not a better person in Hollywood, or anywhere else on the planet, who should be making The Munsters movie other than Rob Zombie," Grampa actor Dan Roebuck previously said, via Horror Geek Life. "It’s gone through the hands of so many other people and I know Rob wasn’t just looking for something to attach his coattails to. He’s a huge fan of it and being a life-long fan approaching this material it really is as good as it gets."

The Munsters will be released on Netflix on Sept. 27, 2022. That same day, it will also be available on Digital, Blu-ray, and DVD.
