Canadian actor Robert Cormier died on Friday, September 23, in Etobicoke, Ontario. He was only 33. Cormier was best known for his appearances on the popular Canadian series Heartland and Netflix's horror anthology Slasher. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter his sister Stephanie said that Cormier had passed away due to injuries sustained in a fall.

Through his obituary, his family shared:

“Robert was an athlete, an actor and a great brother. He had a passion for helping others and was always looking to achieve more. He enjoyed movie nights with his family and looked up greatly to his father. He impacted many people throughout his life, whether it was family, teammates and friends. Rob’s memory will live on through his passion for art and film as well as his three sisters, who meant the world to him.”

Cormier was born in Toronto. According to IMDb, he graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Fire and Engineering Extension Services. He later attended Toronto's York University, but before graduating, decided to exit in order to pursue his acting career. In 2014, he graduated from the Toronto Academy of Acting for Film & Television.

In 2016, Cormier appeared in one episode of the Kiefer Sutherland-led drama Designated Survivor. He is best known for his work on the third installment of Netflix's horror anthology Slasher, where he portrayed drug addict Kit Jennings. In 2021, Cormier appeared on the Canadian comedy-drama Heartland, as Finn Cotter, a potential love interest for the series' main character Amy Fleming (Amber Marshall). On August 29, Cormier shared a selfie on his Instagram, surrounded by Heartland scripts, so he is expected to appear in episodes of the series' upcoming 16th season. Cormier's other credits include appearances on American Gods and Ransom.

UPtv (which broadcasts Heartland) took their instagram to pay respects to Cormier, calling him "an amazing talent." The Heartland page also shared their own tribute, posting a picture that reads: "We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Robert Cormier. He was a beloved member of the Heartland cast the last two seasons. On behalf of the Heartland cast and crew, our thoughts are with him and his family, who have asked for privacy during this difficult time.”

Cormier is survived by his parents, grandmother, and three sisters. His funeral will take place Sunday in Etobicoke. Rest in peace, Robert Cormier.
