It seems that a sequel to a 1988 Robert De Niro film is moving forward, with the star attached to reprise his role. Deadline New York is reporting that Robert De Niro will return in a sequel to Midnight Run.

De Niro will return as L.A. bounty hunter Jack Walsh and Universal Pictures has hired screenwriter Tim Dowling to write the sequel. No plot details were revealed but it was said that De Niro's Walsh would be tracking down another fugitive.

Charles Grodin played the fugitive in the first film, but he won't be returning for the film. De Niro will produce the film along with his Tribeca Productions partner Jane Rosenthal.
