Robert Hall will direct a remake of the 1986 cult oddity Chopping Mall, also producing and co-writing alongside Kevin Bocarde, for Dry County Entertainment.

Roger Corman and his wife Julie Corman produced the original Chopping Mall, which followed a group of older teens trapped in a shopping mall that had been taken over by killer robots.

Kevin Bocarde had this to say about the retooled version of the script, which won't be a direct facsimile of the original.

"It will retain the basic concept of young people trapped in a mall; however, the story will have a darker, supernatural spin. This is an exciting way to pay homage and honor Roger while also expanding the original film's premise."

The Chopping Mall redux will begin shooting this spring.
