Yellowstone has been a smash hit for Paramount, which has led to a franchise getting spawned. Before 1923, the show was given its first spinoff in the form of the acclaimed limited series 1883. That series, which premiered in December of last year on Paramount+, served as a prequel to Yellowstone by following the Dutton family during the post-Civil War era as they journey to Texas from Tennessee, traveling by immigrant wagon train, before ultimately settling in Montana where the Yellowstone Ranch would be established. The series starred Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Isabel May, and LaMonica Garrett.

A separate spinoff is also in development for Paramount Network. That series, dubbed 6666, was originally announced as a Paramount+ exclusive before making its move. These shows will be made separately from Yellowstone which is also still ongoing.

1923 will stream on Paramount+ later this year on a date yet to be announced. Production is currently underway.
