Nine months after Jamie Foxx came aboard to play Little John in Lionsgate's Robin Hood: Origins, the cast keeps growing with Jamie Dornan. The Fifty Shades of Grey star is in final negotiations to play Will Scarlett, one of Robin Hood's band of merry men, who is also married to Maid Marian (Eve Hewson). Production is scheduled to begin this coming January in Budapest.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Will Scarlett is one of Robin Hood's band of merry men, who is described as a "hot-headed wearer of fine clothes." He is also said to be the best swordsman, and in this version of the story, he is married to Maid Marian, but finds out that she is in love with Robin Hood. It isn't known if other classic Robin Hood characters such as Friar Tuck, the Sheriff of Nottingham or Alan-a-Dale will show up, but this version of the story puts a new twist on this classic tale.

The plot follows the title character, played by Taron Egerton, who returns home from fighting in The Crusades. He discovers that his beloved Sherwood Forest has become a den of corruption, leading him to form a band of merry outlaws to take back his homeland. Production was originally supposed to begin back in February, but there was a conflict with Taron Egerton's Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which the actor recently wrapped on. Lionsgate has yet to set a release date for Robin Hood: Origins.

Peaky Blinders director Otto Bathurst will direct Robin Hood: Origins from a script by Joby Harold (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword). Leonardo DiCaprio is producing with his Appian Way partner Jennifer Davisson Killoran, alongside Safe House's Joby Harold, Tory Tunnell and Basil Iwanyk. We also reported in February that this project may have some competition with a futuristic project entitled Robin Hood 2058 from 300 producer Gianni Nunnari, while Disney is also developing Nottingham & Hood with writer Brandon Barker, which is said to be in the same vein as the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Jamie Dornan reprises his role as Christian Grey in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey sequel Fifty Shades Darker, which hits theaters February 10, 2017. He also most recently starred in Anthropoid and The 9th Life of Louis Drax, and he will next be seen in Netflix's The Siege of Jadotville, which will be released on the streaming service October 7. He will next start shooting Untogether alongside Ben Mendelsohn for director Emma Forrest.
