Rock band U2 has teamed with documentary directors Catherine Owens and Mark Pellington on a 3D concert film from their recent Vertigo Tour.

Over 700 hours of footage was shot with the band through their trek in South America. The Hollywood Reporter notes 3D director of photography Peter Anderson used nine pairs of Sony Cinealta 950 cameras to capture the band with swooping camera angles and kaleidoscopic imagery.

A mid to late 2007 release has tentatively been set; there is a possibility for U2 to shoot an upcoming concert completely in 3D using the same technology.
