It looks like the videogame Return to Castle Wolfenstein is finally making its way to the big screen. According to Variety, Samuel Hadida has purchased the screen rights to the first-person shooter, and he has hired Roger Avary to write and direct it.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein takes place during World War II. U.S. Army Ranger B.J. Blazkowicz is sent to Transylvania to investigate the Nazis' SS Paranormal Division. Yes, that's right. It's about Nazi vampires.
Avary stated, "I've been playing the character of B.J. Blazkowicz since the epic Wolfenstein 3D first bruised my brain and have ever since wanted to bring his adventures to life on the bigscreen. It's time to bust some dams, storm some bunkers and blow up some bridges."
There is no word on when the project will be going into production.
