To the excitement of a great may fans around the world, we are just over a month away from the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Disney and Lucasfilm have released all of the official trailers for the movie stateside, but international trailers are the gift that keep on giving at this point. That being the case, a new full-length international trailer for Rogue One and a new international TV spot have made their way online.
Both of these new spots made their way onto YouTube today and both of them show off some new choice bits of footage from the movie. The bulk of the full-length trailer features footage that we have already seen in previous trailers, but it does have a couple of great new shots. One features an interaction between Chirrut Îmwe (Donnie Yen) and Baze Malbus (Wen Jiang). It also has some new X-Wing action. The best new shot may be in the TV spot though, as there is a pretty excellent shot featuring a whole bunch of Tie Fighters.
Yesterday also brought us another new international trailer for Rogue one: A Star Wars Story and that also had some new footage. Aside from a new shot of Darth Vader, it also revealed Jyn Erso's (Felicity Jones) Mom, played by Valene Kane. It also teased Jyn's connection to the Force, because her mom gave hear a necklace that appeared to have a Kyber Crystal in it as she whispered "Trust the Force." For those who may not know, Kyber Crystals are Force-attuned, naturally occurring crystals that were found on various planets across the galaxy. They are used by the Jedi and the Sith in the construction of their lightsabers.
Prequel became kind of a bad word for Star Wars fans, but Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is a prequel movie, even if Disney isn't calling it that. The movie takes place in the time between the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope and finally tells the story of how the Rebels got their hands on the plans for the Empire's ultimate weapon, the Death Star. The Rebel group is being led by Jyn Erso, who is accompanied by a mixed bag of rag-tag Rebels who are trying to secure the plans so that the Rebel Alliance can destroy the Death Star. Unless you have never seen the original Star Wars, you will know that their plan ultimately works out, but the question of how and at what cost is something that fans are very interested in seeing.
It seems like some of what is happening in these trailers is venturing into spoiler territory, especially when compared to the relatively small amount of actual story that was revealed in the trailers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Even so, there is some great stuff to see here so if you are feeling eager and want to see some new shots, be sure to check out these new international trailers below. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was directed by Gareth Edwards and is set for release on December 16.
