A brand new extended TV spot from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is now available. This latest sneak peek focuses on the growing relationship between Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor. And it highlights a scene from the upcoming sci-fi adventure where Jyn, Cassian and their friendly yet dangerous droid K-2SO must infiltrate Imperial ranks while in disguise to retrieve plans to the deadly Death Star.

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone filmsRogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. The story is by John Knoll and Gary Whitta, and the screenplay is by Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy.  Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016.

This new TV trailer sets up the chemistry and dynamic shared by Felicity Jones and Diego Luna in the movie. It's also a direct callback to A New Hope, when Luke Skywalker and Han Solo were forced to disguise themselves as Imperial Stormtroopers to save Princess Leia, as Ben Kenobi hurried to shut down the tractor beam so they could escape. That scene ended with the death of Obi-Wan, one of the last living Jedi. The stakes aren't quite as high for a beloved character in this new film. But it has been speculated that every member of Jyn and Cassian's team will meet their fate before the end of the movie.

While none of the core Star Wars trio will be back in Star Wars: Rogue One, there will be a number of characters returning from A New Hope, including Darth Vader and one particular Rebel Soldier who met his end in the opening five minutes of the original 1977 movie. It is also rumored that C-3PO and R2D2 are getting a memorable cameo at the end of the movie. Both droids are the only two characters to show up in all 7 Star Wars live-action movies, and it's doubtful that they'll stop now.
