Yesterday, Empire Magazine revealed some of the Star Wars Rebels from the upcoming spinoff Rogue One: A Star Wars Story on the cover of their upcoming issue. The publication also teased that a second cover image would debut today, with a third arriving on Monday. True to their word, Empire has unveiled a new cover, featuring Ben Mendelsohn's Director Orson Krennic along with some of his Deathtroopers.

It isn't known who will be featured on the third Empire cover, but we'll bring you that image as soon as it surfaces. We first learned about Director Krennic a few months ago, through a preview of LucasFilm's official companion book to the movie. This book revealed that Krennic serves as the military director of the Empire, to defend the Galactic Empire against the Rebels mission to steal the Death Star plans.

The group of Rebels trying to steal the Death Star plans is lead by Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), along with Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed), Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Baze Malbus (Wiang Jen) and Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen). They are joined by a new droid dubbed K-2SO, voiced and performed through motion capture by Alan Tudyk. We saw in the first cover image how much K-2SO towers over his human companions, but we'll have to wait and see if he'll be of any use to these warriors in battle.

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

The cast also incudes Mads Mikkelsen as Jyn's father, Galen, Ben Mendelsohn as the villainous Director Orson Krennic and Forest Whitaker as Star Wars: The Clone Wars character Saw Gerrera. It was also recently confirmed that Jimmy Smits will reprise his prequel trilogy role as Bail Organa, although, unfortunately, no details have been revealed about how he fits into the story. LucasFilm will release Rogue One on December 16, where it will go up against New Line's Collateral Beauty starring Will Smith and Edward Norton. Check out the new Empire Magazine cover below, featuring the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story villain Director Krennic.
