It's official! Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is getting it's own Force Friday. The 2nd annual event was officially announced at Toy Fair 2016. Just like last September, when the first Force Friday unleashed a tsunami of toys and other Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise into stores, this next epic event will be tailored around the arrival of the first-ever Star Wars spinoff, which hits theaters in December.

This epic event is going to hit retailers hard on September 30, 2016. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story revolves around a group of rebel soldiers who go on an impossible mission to steal plans for the original Death Star. On Force Friday, all major retailers will open their store and online doors at 12 am sharp, allowing fans to get their hands on all the latest action figures, books, Legos and whatever else is being planned for this galactic adventure.

While none of the new toys were revealed as part of NYTF 2016, it did bring a first look at the new Star Wars Rebels action figure for Darth Maul. Apparently, the fan-favorite Sith, who seemingly died at the end of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace but was resurrected in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, will be making an appearance on the new Disney XD animated adventure series. This image reveals his full body, though the image is a little blurry. We also get to see his robotic legs and his new lightsaber. While a date hasn't been announced, this doll is said to hit store shelves later this year.

A report from earlier this week claimed that some Rogue One: A Star Wars Story merchandise might be arriving this summer. And that may still be true. Adding to the speculation that we'll get our first Rogue One: A Star Wars Story items this summer is the fact that the official calendar for the movie is available for pre-sale on Amazon. We don't get to see the cover of this calendar, or any of the photos that it will contain within. But we do get the promise that it will arrive in just 5 months time, debuting on June 1. This will be a full 6 months before the movie is in theaters.

You may recall that last year, spinoff star Donnie Yen revealed three Stormtrooper helmets that will be used in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Among these were a black helmet said to belong to the 'Death Troopers'. This particular helmet will accompany the first wave of Rogue One action figures and toys as it's official logo, which are coming in September as part of Force Friday Part 2. It's not yet clear what other types of toys we might see, as no big reveals have been made for the movie yet. We do know that the cast stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Donnie Yen and Wen Jiang. It is also rumored to feature iconic characters such as Darth Vader, Boba Fett and a young Han Solo. So we can, at the very least, expect to see action figures for each of them. Take a look at the official Force Friday Part 2 logo and the new Darth Maul action figure.
