Despite having the entire plot to the first Star Wars spinoff, Rogue One, spelled out in the original opening crawl of 1977's A New Hope, there is still precious little we know about the movie aside from the cast line-up. Today we have yet another rumor that an iconic spaceship from the original trilogy is making a comeback in this next big screen adventure. Yes, it is believed that the original Snowspeeders seen in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back will fly again.

The Snowspeeders are also known as T-47 Airspeeders. The source of the rumor comes from a pretty legitimate source. Though it has gone unnoticed for the past 15 weeks. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Donnie Yen's wife was visiting Times Square, were she had a run-in with a giant LEGO Snowspeeder. And she took a picture of it, sharing with fans on Instagram. This is what Cissy Wang had to say about visiting her husband on set.

"So cool visiting Times Square's Star Wars Lego display! Looks exactly like the real thing when visiting hubby on the set!!"

It sure sounds like she saw Snowspeeders on the set of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. But it's also possible that she is simply referring to just the spaceships in general. T-47 Airspeeders were first introduced in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, and have only ever been seen on screen in that movie during the exciting raid on Hoth. Star Wars: The Force Awakens brought back the AT-ATs also introduced in this scene, so it's entirely possible that Rogue One is recycling some iconic props for nostalgic reasons.

With Star Wars: The Force Awakens already visiting the snowy landscape of the Starkiller Base, we doubt we'll see much snow in Rogue One. Which could indicate that the T-47 Airspeeders have another purpose in this universe. The T-47 airspeeder is a low-altitude vehicle manufactured by Incom Corporation. When the Alliance to Restore the Republic was stationed on the icy planet of Hoth, a contingent of T-47 airspeeders were modified to become assault fighters called snowspeeders. A small, wedge-shaped craft, the Alliance snowspeeder was a two-man ship, with a pilot and a rear-facing tailgunner. It had two heavy, forward-facing laser cannons and a harpoon cannon fitted in its rear arc.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Donnie Yen and Wen Jiang. The movie will take place during a period of Civil War. And it will focus on the Rebel's first major victory against the Galactic Empire after a surprise attack from a hidden base. It's during this sneak raid that a team of Rebel spies manage to steal the secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon: The dreaded Death Star! And it will end right where the original 1977 Star Wars picks up, with Princess Leia racing home aboard her starship hoping to restore freedom to the galaxy. Before she is captured by Lord Vader. Take a look at Cissy Wang's very telling Instagram photo. Will we see the T-47 fly again?
