With less than one month left before Rogue One hits theaters, a new TV spot has surfaced for this Star Wars spin-off. It features new footage of the Rebels as they first learn about the Empire's massive space station known as the Death Star, which has the power to destroy an entire planet. While many Rebels believe they will be destroyed by this weapon, Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) claims they have no choice but to fight for their own survival.

This TV spot from LucasFilm also gives us a brief glimpse at Darth Vader, who was recently confirmed to have a major role in this story, which is set between Revenge of the Sith and the 1977 classic that started it all, A New Hope. James Earl Jones will return to voice Darth Vader, although there will be a number of different actors portraying him inside the iconic costume. His appearance here is said to set up his return in a number of other spin-offs, which could include the upcoming Han Solo spin-off and/or the Boba Fett spin-off that is believed to hit theaters in 2020.

Last week, LucasFilm also debuted a 360 video that gave us a different glimpse at the Death Star, which was still under construction. From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. The story is by John Knoll and Gary Whitta, and the screenplay is by Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016, going up against Collateral Beauty starring Will Smith.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be the first of three Star Wars spin-offs that have been announced at this time. LucasFilm will start production next year on the Han Solo spin-off, which has Alden Ehrenreich set to star as Han Solo, with Donald Glover recently coming aboard as Lando Calrissian. LucasFilm is also developing a third spin-off that will reportedly center on Boba Fett, which is tentatively set for release in 2020. Take a look at this new TV spot from the first Star Wars stand alone movie.
