Ron Perlman gained tons of fan respect and admiration for his portrayal of a certain superhero from Hell in Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy and Hellboy II: The Golden Army, but with del Toro now busy working on TheHobbit, the question arises - would Perlman do Hellboy III without del Toro? Perlman spoke to IESB.net about that possibility, as well as his involvement in Bubba Nosferatu.

Perlman did say that he would never do HBIII without, at the minimum, Guillermo's blessing. "I know he has no time to direct another movie for five years because he's doing two Hobbit movies, but if he said, "Yes, I have the script for Hellboy III, and this is my hand-picked director and, even though I can't be there, I'll oversee it and look at the dailies," then of course I would do it!" Perlman said, "But, I would never contemplate doing Hellboy, unless Guillermo was integral."

Perlman also talked about how he ended up with the role of Elvis in Bubba Nosferatu, replacing Bruce Campbell, who played Elvis in Bubba Ho-Tep. "I hadn't seen Bubba Ho-Tep. I got a letter from Paul Giamatti saying, "We're gonna to go do this thing. I'm gonna to be in it. I'm gonna play Colonel Tom Parker. My company is helping to produce is. Bruce Campbell opted out of playing Elvis, for the second time, for reasons unbeknownst to me, but he gives us his blessing. And, we're looking for an Elvis?" What would you say? It's a no-brainer," Perlman said.

Perlman went on to say that Bubba Nosferatu and Bubba Ho-Tep are unrelated, other than the similar premise of Elvis being alive and well, living in a retirement home and facing off against the hordes of the underworld.
