Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen are reuniting for Apple TV+'s Platonic. The two previously collaborated for Neighbors and its sequel. The streamer revealed today that Platonic, which was ordered back in October 2020, will premiere May 24. According to the official logline, “Platonic follows a platonic pair of former best friends approaching midlife (Rogen and Byrne) who reconnect after a long rift. The duo’s friendship becomes all consuming—and destabilizes their lives in a hilarious way."

Platonic is co-created, co-written, and directed by Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco. Byrne, Rogen, and Conor Welch will serve as executive producers alongside Stoller and Delbanco. The series also stars Luke Macfarlane, Tre Hale, Carla Gallo, and Andrew Lopez, and features Alisha Wainwright, Guy Branum, Janet Varney, Emily Kimball, and Vinny Thomas.

The first three episodes of the ten-episode series will premiere May 24, and the remaining episodes will air weekly, on Wednesdays, through July 12.

In 2014, Byrne and Rogen co-starred in Neighbors as a married couple living next to a fraternity house. In 2016, they reprised their roles for the sequel Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. Both films were directed by Stoller.

Platonic is the second collaboration between Apple TV+ and Byrne, who currently stars on Physical as Sheila Rubin. The critically acclaimed series' third season will air later this year.

Byrne began her career by appearing in Australian film and television in the 1990s. During the 2000s, she made her way to Hollywood and appeared in films including Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, Troy, 28 Weeks Later, and Knowing. Her work on the television series Damages earned the actress two Golden Globe Awards nominations and two Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Byrne is also known for starring in Insidious and its sequel Insidious: Chapter 2, as well as X-Men: First Class and its sequel X-Men: Apocalypse.

While Platonic marks Rogen's first collaboration with AppleTV+, another project between the two is already in the works. Rogen is set to star in an upcoming series for the streamer. For the untitled project, Rogen will also serve as a writer, director, and executive producer, alongside long-time collaborator Evan Goldberg.

Rogen began his work in the industry as a stand-up comedian. In 1999, he starred in Judd Apatow's cult classic series Freaks and Geeks, which led to other projects with Apatow, including Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Although Rogen has appeared in many comedies throughout his career (like Superbad, Pineapple Express, and The Disaster Artist), he has also ventured into the world of drama with appearances in films like Take This Waltz, Steve Jobs, and The Fabelmans. Rogen recently received Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominations for his work on Hulu's Pam & Tommy.
